William Phillips and his Team Mate Jan Jonck won their first race of the season for Macmillan Racing at Brands Hatch at the weekend.
During the Free Practice sessions the car was feeling good but due to short and heavy showers at the start of Qualifying the decision was made to leave wet tyres on which proved a costly mistake. It meant that Will and Jan had to start in 11th place on the grid. However this did not stop William gaining 3 places on the first lap and he continued to carve his way through the field until he handed over to Jan in 2nd place behind car#100. After a great pitstop from the team, Jan came back out right behind the leader and sat on his bumper throughout the race. Never letting car#100 have any rest Jan pushed him all the way until he finally saw his opportunity to take the lead with a daring overtaking move at Druids with just 2 wheels on the track.
Will and Jan have been very close to podium finishes this season but luck has not always been on their side. This weekend at Brands Hatch it finally all came together to give them a great result.
This now means that the pair are sitting in 4th place for the GT4 Drivers Championship and 3rd in the Silver Cup.
William Phillips has decide to move to Macmillan Racing for the 2017 season. He will be back competing in the GT4 class driving their Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
